Cookie Policy
This page lists everything African Predictions keeps in your browser, why, and for how long, and how to change what you allowed.
1. What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Sites can also keep data in the browser’s local storage, which works the same way but is never sent with each request. This policy covers both, and we call them “cookies” for short. African Predictions sets no advertising cookies and uses no third-party tracking tools.
2. Strictly necessary
These keep the service working and remember choices you made on purpose. They are always on, because the site cannot sign you in or show your settings without them.
| Item | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
ap_real_session | Keeps you signed in to your account. | Until you sign out |
ap_rt | A cookie that keeps you signed in on africanpredictions.com and every partner page at once. | 24 hours, or until you sign out |
ap_partner_ctx | The partner page you came from in this tab, so that partner is credited for your trade. | 30 minutes, until the tab closes |
ap_state_v4, ap_markets_v4 | A local copy of open markets and your watchlist so pages load quickly. | Until cleared |
ap_cookie_consent | Remembers the choice you made on this notice. | Until you change it |
ap_theme, ap_accent, ap_layout | The theme, accent colour and layout you picked. | Until you change them |
ap_price_display, ap_map_view | Whether you see odds or percentages, and the map style you picked. | Until you change them |
ap_feed_saved, ap_cluster_watch, ap_saved_searches | Markets, races and searches you saved on purpose. | Until you remove them |
ap_swipe_stake, ap_swipe_ask, ap_swipe_cap | The stake, confirm mode and spending brake you set in the Feed. | Until you change them |
ap_notifications_seen | Which notifications you have already opened. | Until cleared |
Service worker cache | Saved copies of pages and files so the site opens quickly and on a weak connection. | Replaced as the site updates |
3. Preferences (optional)
History we keep for you so you can pick up where you left off. Only stored if you allow it.
| Item | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
ap_recent_searches | Your last five searches, shown when you open search. | Until cleared, or you switch Preferences off |
ap_swipe_seen | Which markets you have already seen in the Feed, so new ones come first. | Until cleared, or you switch Preferences off |
4. Analytics (optional)
How we learn which news is useful. Only sent if you allow it.
| Item | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
News reading events | When you open a news story or tap a market from one, a record of that is sent to African Predictions so we can see which coverage leads to trading. Nothing is stored in your browser and nothing is shared with advertisers. | Kept on our servers as described in the Privacy Policy |
5. Content from other services
Some parts of the site load content directly from other providers: satellite map imagery from Esri, and news photos from the publishers who ran the story. When your browser fetches that content, those providers receive your IP address and browser details as part of the request, under their own policies. They do not set cookies through African Predictions. The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard request logs.
6. Changing your choice
You can change what you allowed at any time. Switching a group off removes what it stored straight away.
You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings. That signs you out and resets your settings on this device.
7. Contact and changes
Questions about this policy can go to support@africanpredictions.com. Read it together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data under the Data Protection Act, 2019. We will update this page when what we store changes; the date above shows the last change.
